> and I know that families want to live in single family detached homes and the yield statistics for most districts proves that. We don’t have an affordable single family housing stock in Bellevue and it is expensive to raise a family. Families are leaving in aggregate terms for elsewhere.
This same person said literally the opposite thing using the exact same reasoning 7 years ago in the 2015 planning report. Bonkers.
We are group 2 - enrolled in private for kindergarten and never looked back. Our neighborhood elementary school was the very last to open in the district and even once it did, it was 2 hours a day, twice a week. We don’t regret moving to private, as both our elementary kids are thriving, but I am sad because I grew up in the public schools here and loved it.
You nailed it, we lost trust in this district to make decisions. We are eyeing a middle school return, and I bet we are not alone in that.
Great work. Heard you at the district meeting just now. Kids clearly have migrated to public schools. 75% of kindergartners (in one school I know) are boys. Why? What has happened in the last few years to drive kids out of public schools? And what else has happened to drive parents to place their daughters in private schools? I think we know the answers. We need a new board and administration.

Awesome!
Re: birth rates. Nationally we are now seeing a 'COVID bump'.
Births have jumped back up to 2018 levels.
Will be curious to see if new King country data follows the trend.
